Well, during my Safari's photo project [link] some of you might have noticed a few animals added and some taken off the list, unfortunately, we lost one of our wolves recently, but Riggs would not simply be deleted. He lived at Safari's longer then almost any other animal, and was nearly 15 when he passed away. He was our ambassador wolf who would patently tolerate groups of people, including noisy kids, petting him and hugging him. He never turned down the opportunity to go out on a leash and meet new people. Only last October, when his mate Raven died in the poisonings of several of our wolves, [link] did he ever start acting like the old wolf he had been for quite some time. He had always been such a presence at Safari's that I never thought of a time he would not be with us, even though I knew that time would be coming sooner then later. I take comfort in the fact that he is no longer in the pain of old age and he can run and sing and hunt with his Raven again.
