Sorry I ain't been around, firefox was not letting my log on to DA so Patrick told me to try a different web browser and tada, so here I am. Lets see, updates, working on new drawings for Oklacon, got married, lost the battery charger for my camera so I've been camera deprived for a month now, got a new corn snake, four new tarantulas, a centipede, a whip scorpion <3 and two Halloween crabs. think thats about it. I'll get some drawings and photos posted. =^-^=

I meant to post this on here earlier but I forgot to. Bad me. Anyways, this is just a slide show I made featuring Safari's volunteers, past and present. You all might not have realized but DeviantArt is actually full of Safari's people. See!

Oh my gosh, so many new things. I got two new critters, a female OBT, which, depending who you ask, stands for either Orange Baboon Tarantula or Orange Biting Thing, she's so pretty and little, I've named her Curly Fry cause one of my coworkers got creeped out and lost her appetite for curly fries when she saw her. The other is a female (possibly gravid) Vietnamese centipede. She doesn't have a name yet so any suggestions would be good. Also, today I took my three new snakes from my friend Pete who passed away to get probed. And I'm so happy, they are all girls! Getz the cornsnake, who I guessed right at btw, Grizz the milksnake, and Luke Bryan the baby milksnake. I guess Luke will have to be a girls name.
One other thing, I got my first venomous snake bite! Don't freak out or anything, it was just my hognose snake, she bite my pinkie finger after I had finished feeding her tonight while I was not paying attention before putting her up. She was only attached for about 20 seconds, according to my sister, it felt like a long longer then that to me. My pinkie swelled up and throbbed and itched for some time, and is now softening up a bit, after three hours. Now that I'm done worrying about my finger, I'm more worried about her mouth, I'll have to take a look at her soon. Anyways, thats all, I'll try to get pictures of all the new girls.

I got a couple new snakes, I love them already. I got a young, probably year old brightly colored normal corn snake that I've named Getz and a female sub adult apricot Pueblan  milk snake named Grizz. I can't wait to get them set up in their tanks and once they've settled down we'll have a photo shoot so you guys can see them, although I've updated my ID with a couple quick shots I snapped of them when I brought them home, if you guys want a sneek peek, I've also got one more baby milk coming who shall be named Luke Bryan. These snakes are very special to me now because they belonged to my very good friend who passed away in October and now I can have living reminders of one of our favorite things and I can take care of something he took care of.

Just giving you guys an update. As you know, Rocky will not be put to sleep, he will live out his life with us. Last weekend Safari's was open to the public to help try to raise funds to cover all of our expenses from the last month we were closed and Sat we raised over $5,000 and Sun about $2,000. It was amazing. People donated so much, one lady even wrote us a thousand dollar check. They were also very polite and respectful of us and our feelings. A woman in my tour picked up and straightened the small flowers we had set up in front of Rocky's cage when they had fallen down and that very nearly brought me to tears. I just wish that something terrible hadn't had to happen to bring out all these amazing, beautiful, awesome people. I think we will try opening again, many of the animals need the human contact they get, and he would not want us to give up, he would call us all big babies, tell us to quite bitchin' and get the hell back to work. So that's what I better do.
